What is the PPC ROI Calculator?
See whether your paid search campaigns make money before you spend it. Enter your monthly ad budget, average cost per click, website conversion rate, lead-to-customer close rate, average sale value and gross margin. The calculator shows clicks, leads, customers, revenue, gross profit, ROAS, ROI, cost per lead and cost per customer.
It also calculates your break-even cost per click and break-even ROAS — the most you can pay before advertising stops being profitable — and a scenario table showing how improving conversion rate or CPC changes profit.

ROAS versus ROI
ROAS (return on ad spend) is revenue divided by ad spend. A ROAS of 4 means $4 of revenue for every $1 of advertising. ROI subtracts all costs, including the cost of delivering the product or service, so it shows real profit. A campaign with a 3× ROAS can still lose money if your margin is 25%. That is why this calculator asks for your gross margin.
Break-even CPC: the number every advertiser should know
Break-even CPC = average sale value × gross margin × close rate × conversion rate. If your average click costs more than this, every click loses money. Knowing it lets you set sensible bid limits and target CPA or ROAS goals for Smart Bidding.
Pro tips from our PPC and SEO team
- Use real account data where possible; benchmarks are only a starting point.
- Include lifetime value for repeat-purchase or subscription businesses.
- Improving landing page conversion rate usually lifts profit faster than lowering CPC.
- Recalculate after every major change in pricing or conversion rate.
PPC ROI Calculator: frequently asked questions
What is a good ROAS for Google Ads?
It depends on margin. With a 50% gross margin you break even at 2× ROAS, so 4× or higher is healthy. With a 20% margin you need at least 5× to break even.
How is PPC ROI calculated?
ROI = (gross profit from ads − ad spend) ÷ ad spend × 100. Gross profit is revenue multiplied by your gross margin.
What conversion rate should I use?
Use your own Google Ads conversion rate if you have one. Search campaigns across industries commonly convert between 3% and 10% of clicks into leads, but results vary widely.
Are the projections guaranteed?
No. They are calculations based on your inputs. Actual results depend on competition, ad quality, landing pages and market demand.
