What is the Meta Tag Analyzer & SERP Preview?
Your title tag and meta description are your advert in Google’s organic results. This tool fetches any page and lists every meta tag that matters — title, description, robots, canonical, viewport, language, hreflang, Open Graph and Twitter cards — and flags missing, duplicated or over-length tags.
Then edit the title and description in the live SERP preview. It measures text in pixels, the way Google truncates it, and shows desktop and mobile previews plus social share cards, so you can write snippets that display in full and earn the click.

How long should a title tag and meta description be?
Google truncates by pixel width, not character count. Titles display up to roughly 580–600 pixels on desktop (about 50–60 characters) and descriptions up to roughly 920 pixels (about 150–160 characters). Wide letters like W and M use more space than i and l, which is why a pixel-based preview is more accurate than a character counter.
Why Google sometimes rewrites your snippet
Google may replace your title or description when it thinks other text on the page matches the search better, when the tag is missing or stuffed with keywords, or when it does not describe the page. Clear, accurate, unique tags are rewritten far less often.
Pro tips from our PPC and SEO team
- Put the main keyword near the start of the title.
- Give every page a unique title and description.
- Include a benefit or call to action in the description.
- Set og:image to at least 1200×630 pixels for social shares.
Meta Tag Analyzer & SERP Preview: frequently asked questions
Do meta descriptions affect rankings?
Not directly, but a compelling description increases click-through rate, which brings more traffic from the same ranking.
Does Google use the meta keywords tag?
No. Google has ignored the meta keywords tag for years. It does no harm, but it is not needed.
What is a canonical tag?
It tells search engines which URL is the preferred version of a page, consolidating duplicates such as tracking-parameter variants.
Why is my social preview image missing?
The page probably lacks an og:image tag or uses an image that is too small or blocked. Add an absolute URL to an image of at least 1200×630 pixels.
